The English Montreal School Board serves more than 35,000 students who attend some 73 schools and centres in the youth and adult sectors on the island of Montreal.  From pre-kindergarten to vocational training programs, the EMSB provides a caring, safe and inclusive learning community that is focused on academic excellence.

 

Registrations for the 2024-2025 school year

The EMSB is presently accepting registrations for the upcoming school year. All registrations are by appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted. Visitors must use the main entrance of the building when they come to their appointment at the Central Office.

If you live outside of EMSB territory (i.e.: North Shore, South Shore, West Island, Lasalle, Verdun, Lachine, Châteauguay), you must contact the School Board of your territory to apply for a Certificate of English Eligibility.

Register for school

In order to register a student with the English Montreal School Board, you must register at the school. The process and requirements differ depending on academic level, education history and your country of origin. Find out what's required in the registration section.

In order to qualify for English instruction in Quebec public schools, students must meet certain criteria under the  Charter of the French Language as set out by the Quebec government.

Can my child attend school before they are of age?

The Board may grant early entry (derogation) to a child who has not reached the age of admission. This requires an evaluation of the child by a psychologist. Learn more about this process.
